About Me

Hello. I’m 38, and I first started role-playing back in 1982 - but with some very long periods of hiatus between then and now! We’re talking Rip Van Winkle long!

I’ve lived in Milton Keynes since 1979. By profession I’m an Oracle & DB2/UDB Database Administrator for a UK bank, but don’t worry — it’s nowhere near as interesting as it sounds.

What kind of role-playing do I enjoy?

Action adventure. I’m in it to roll the dice, save the day, and defeat the bad guys. Preferably whilst looking cool doing it.

I’m not particularly interested in what constitutes a narrativist game or a simulationist game, or games that will lead you on a journey of self-discovery where you can learn more about yourself as you explore the nature of mumble mumble wibble.

I really don't like diceless games, or games which have funky mechanics for player-led plot construction blah blah. Gimme a GM with a plot and a bunch of players out to wreck it any day!

I don’t know if that makes me an “old school” gamer or just terribly, terribly, shallow. Maybe both, who knows? :)

Also, it’s tabletop all the way. Computerized “roleplaying” games and MMORPG are evil! Evil, I say!
